Well... I stumbled onto this quarter awhile back, but only just got my scanner working to be able to post it... As you can see, right beneath the eagles perch, there is a sizable portion of the detailing missing... it looks as if somone just wailed on it with a ballpeen hammer, except that there is no damage on the obverse to match it.

Opinions?

Judging by the letters looking a bit faded as well I'd say it's a very large Grease Filled Die

Not a dent at all. That bar is what's left of the bundle of arrows the eagle is carrying with his feet. My vote....well worn.

If it were dented the obverse would also be distorted, which it is not. So I'm saying a strike through error (grease)

Yeah, Struck Through Grease was my guess as well. Nifty.

Does it have any sort of premium?

The more the grease filling the more of a demand for them. Really catches interest on ebay when letters are missing as it can change the whole meaning of what was intended. With the missing areas on your coin, it would be something as an educational piece. Something to show others and educate others.
