This is another picture I found on my computer, and it looks like it has a D mintmark under liberty. I'm thinking its one of those watermarks that show up on these coins, but I wanted someone else to take a look and tell me what they thought.
Thanks
Mitch

I have a coin with a D out of place also (D is on the shoulder) I was told it was called a dropped die and didn't really add value to the coin. I will try to post a picture if I can find it in my penny collection.

I think what is happening there is called Pareidolia. It's when your mind puts visual cues together making you see something that isn't really there.

It's a normal coin. It's just your mind playing tricks on you.

I agree with E&V. If that is a D it also looks like there is a smaller one under Abe's chin!!

It could be that there was another cent with a D mintmark that was on top of this cent and a substance sat between the two coins for a bit creating the D

Looks like water spots to me. If it was a struck through something, the area would be incuse:

The area in question looks flat. On a dropped letter than can be normal/mirrored depending on how the fall out of the die. But the OPs coin looks like a lot of imagination from what I can see.
