Overall coin in great condition. Tested pushing on it with a toothpick & it's hard, so not rot. Looks more like a gouge to me than a broken device. Bonus : broken post in the R in liberty?

Yes. Looks like either a new one or a later stage of LDB4-1998-012

Right on, first time I've found something like that with 2 things going on. Would've been sweet if it was a WAM. Been having luck finding those lately

I don't think there is a known 1998 WAM with BIE. There is, however a 98 WAM with a cool die chip on the FG.

But if you want a great variety with a BIE look for the 1956 D/D RPM-001 with full BIE.

I agree that it looks like a later state of this one. That oval look matches pretty good then progressed from there. I'm happy with it

Very nice find! It's a "BIE" Die Break and has a Broken Die Post on the "R" of "LIBERTY".
