Hi ALL,

I've been searching through about 400 dimes over the past couple of days and found two where the edges are visible on the obverse. A 1977 and a 1991-P. The scan of the 91-P is terrible and the one posted isn't much better. It actually begins just before the "1" in 1977 and continues behind Roosevelts head.

I haven't found another 1977 dime to compare the two, but was wondering if this was a common error or something worth keeping in my 2x2.

If anyone has one similar, I've love to see it. Thanks.

Collar clash. It occurs when a die (usually the hammer die) hits the top of and/or scrapes along the working face of the collar. The ridges on the collar produce serrations on the edge or in the floor of the die's rim gutter. These are then transferred to each coin. It's pretty common and has no collector value.
