Hey there mates.I was interested in getting the Pansa but something about it didnt look right.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Social-War...AOSwhElbEc7j

Maybe it was overly cleaned? It has a luster that looked too modern. No casting bubbles but I wonder if its a struck fake

Heres the seller:
https://www.ebay.com/usr/ancientcoi...047675.l2559

I have no idea who this is and I am NOT making any accusations.I just wanted to hear some of your thoughts on here. If I am right or wrong just say so. Am I being paranoid or does this look like its suspect?

Cheers!

I classified this seller as very doubtful, to say the least. Many of his coins look like fakes. So, I would advice caution...

You can check on the list of dangerous ebay sellers on this website. I cannot check now but I wouldn't be surprised if he was part of the club!

The seller is not on the Forum list of fake sellers, or on Warren Esty's list at http://augustuscoins.com/ed/fakesellers.html

However, their possibly deceptive practices have been briefly discussed here:

I agree with Bob L. I think this seller's coins are genuine but sometimes artificially toned and over-hyped. Pretty toning distracts from small flaws. As far as ebay goes, there are much more serious concerns.

Hi Bob, guys,

Listen I dont know why but my spidey sense is tingling here. take these 2 for example.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Piso-Frugi...352369145482

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Cordius-Ru...352369148277

Not just the sheen-the legend looks identical despite different coins, different minters, different eras. Same strikes?

I don't know why I just have a real hard time accepting these are genuine. I think you are right the first time. I think I will pass on them.

Update. I think theres another reason- The coins legend is all intact. How often do you really see that happen!?

thanks for all your input guys.

Cheers!

Seller takes PayPal and has 30 day return policy. With such liberal limits, it's worth a gamble if you see a good deal; you are covered by both PayPal and the 30 day return policy if you're not happy with the coin.

While its true I might get my money back from ebay but that doesn't mean the Seller will give it to me....and a seller with returns doesn't mean you are guaranteed in buying a genuine one. It could be a hassle to get your money back. I think you are right the first time. I will pass. genuine or no, it doesn't look right and if I want to ever sell them I dont want the hassle of people accusing me they are fake

Cheers

Although I think the coins are likely legit, I also think that "spidey sense" is the best tool we have as collectors. You don't want nagging, lingering doubts about any coins in your collection. Gotta feel good about your purchases...

The returning policy doesn't mean at all that the seller is honest. Sometimes it is quite the contrary. It happened to me three times to be deluded and buy a fake. Each time, hopefully, I noticed it and returned the objet. Each time the seller didn't made any problem to reimburse me. The first time I was surprised. But after a while it occurred to me that : 1) the seller was used to it, since he was used to sell that stuff; 2) he didn't want any problem, any complaint especially with PayPal. He wanted to continue his small business...
Rest in Peace

Every fake sold is money in a sellers pocket, returns are SOP, business as usual for smucks.

If you think an item is being listed that is a fake, report it. Enough reports and the seller will go bye-bye. You can also use the Counterfeit Sellers forum here as long as the rules are followed.
