I found this in a circulated roll from a bank box of U.S. Pennies. I can't believe I've found this! I have never found one until now and it was on my want list for a long time. This bank box I'm going through is literally one of the best boxes I've went through in a long time! I have been finding great stuff in this box and I still have 17 bankrolls left to go through. Anyway, you can see the Concentric Lathe Lines on the obverse near the rim. I'm going to give this cent a bath in Acetone to help improve its condition. Here's the link to Concentric Lathe Lines.

Thank you spruett001 for looking! It's a very cool find. These Concentric Lathe Lines are notoriously known on the 1996 Denver Lincoln Memorial Cents. For some reason, a certain amount of dies had Concentric Lathe Lines left behind from not polishing down the die good enough, causing coins to be struck with these Lathe Lines. They don't go away with strikes, even in later die states. Here you go spruett001, read up on this good link that explains Lathe Lines. https://errorvariety.com/Lathe-lines/index.html

Nice find EV! I never even heard of that till now. That is one heck of a box. You've only gone through a third of it and you've been posting good stuff like crazy. I've got one waiting for me at my bank, I just hope it's half as good as that one has been.

Thank you Waynoah83 for looking! I'm very glad that you learned something new today. I hope you have great luck on your bank box from your bank! I hope you find great stuff as well! I just got very lucky with this one, plus I had to wait at least two weeks for my bank to have bank boxes of U.S. Pennies. One week, they ran out, and the next week, they didn't get any from Loomis do to a discrepancy. I think that this allowed some time for the good stuff to replenish and that's why I got a good batch.

Thank you John1, chefemasterj, and CJ18850! I was pretty lucky to find this example through circulation. Coop has BU ones from the roll I think.

I just started collecting this past November and found one of those. It was so grooved that is looked like an old 45 record. Not knowing what it was I released it back into the Wild. Boy have I learned a lot since this past November! Maybe it will find me again.

Jim, if you ever find another example of a 1996 D with Concentic Lathe Lines, now you know to hold on to it. Good thing I posted this, because now we know what it is. You'll probably come across another example eventually.

Thank you SilverDollar2017 and OldJoeClark! Sorry about the delay in response. I was at Cannabe Lake Park for almost 7 1/2 hours and it was very fun. :)

Thank you Tunnioc! It was a great find. This is a strong example of Lathe Lines on a Lincoln Cent.
