I do not play with Nickel a lot but I got 2 1982 D and 1964 catching my eyes. Please look through all the pics I post and help me clear specially the 2 lines under Jefferson Shirt

@bate, as you may know, there is a post on the die that forms the inner portion of the letter D for the mintmark. Occasionally, these will break off you and the resulting coins have a filled mintmark. That is what it looks like you have here.

No prob. Glad to help. Those two lines are actually the designer's initials FG. Again, it looks like the die has deteriorated some leaving filled in letters, but this may have been overlaid by a bit of wear that has further changed the letters into broad lines of metal.

Thanks guys. One thing that I would say @bate, is that your cent is a really nice example of this. I can't imagine that it is worth more than face value, but seems like maybe worth saving as an exemplar.
