Good evening. I am new here and know nothing about coins. I have been trying to research the 1801 Draped Bust Dollars to figure out if we have a fake. My concerns are these - there is no lettering on the edge and there is a "rim". What I have been able to find indicates that there should be no rim at all and there should always be lettering on the edge. Can anyone clarify for me please? Thank you.

Definitely a fake. The rims, poor design, and artificial toning technique give it away.

Thank you! They were found stuffed in a ceiling.

Fake, unfortunately.

I have an 1804 fake silver Dollar (the only way I would ever get to own one), in an extensive collection of fake ancient coins, so that I could be familiar with fake coins, and to learn how to spot them.
