I am interested in purchasing this 1793 large cent, however the seller says 'electro counterstamp'. Does that mean it is an electrotype counterfeit (it doesn't look like it) or a certain counterstamp known as an 'electro'?
Thanks in advance.

He added this at the bottom of the listing...

On Jun-05-18 at 15:26:07 PDT, seller added the following information:
I probably should have used the term Electro Copy. For those not familiar with the term electrotyping it is a way of making a very close copy of an original. This results in very thin copper shells that are joined and filled with lead or something similar. The edge usually a roughness or a seam often with some of the underlying metal showing through in spots.

That is the first time I ever heard of 'electro counterstamp'.
Thanks for the explanation 52Raymo.

It's an electrotype counterfeit that's counterstamped.

Looks like half an electrotype that's been counterstamped.
