hi I am new to examining coins and I came across this Texas coin that caught my eye. It has a mark on the second T in STATES and another spot on the edge of the state outline. I don't know what they are called. I think the one on the T is called a Cud? Thanks for any info in advance.

A Cud is found at the edge of a coin.

Looks like coin damage. The metal is still there. Not an error.

Looks like PMD. The T was damaged by a hit from something.

Speaking of learning, there's something called a retained Die Cud.

That looks like a small die chip. Seems everybody didn't read your whole question!

I agree with@mark that there is a small die chip on the outline of Texas. Not enough to increase the value of the coin, but good eyes for noticing it.
