Hi All, I started CRH'ing Lincoln cents today and I have the beginning equipment that is needed to begin. I also have a handful of dates for error's, transitional error's and variety's written down that fetch a decent amount of money if found ($100 or more), but as I began looking through the rolls I came upon some dates from the 1965 - 1968 and 1971, 1973 - 1979 range in really decent condition but were not on my mentioned date list. I am having a hard time just throwing them in the bag to be dumped at the bank if there are considerable error's or varitey's to be found. Is there a list somewhere on the web I can reference to fast that have the top Lincoln Cent Error & Variety dates. Values around $ 50.00 or more. I know a price range is hard to pin point because of a coins condition but I don't have the time to find every single low dollar value error. All help is appreciated. thanks ST

This is just my humble opinion, but, if you are intending to look for Lincoln Cent errors as a way to make money, you may want to reconsider. If you get joy out of it then bonus. Boils down to what your time is worth to you. I don't know what the numbers are but I would imagine you'd go through several hundred 'normal' and minor error coins before coming across just One that has an error worth anything. Then pray that it's in good shape. Happy Hunting

If you are looking at items on a list, then you maybe missing the 'newest find' that you may discover. When people have a list they they convince themselves, "Oh, I just found a 1969-S cent. It must a a doubled die!" They assume that, come here insisting that is what they have (which it is not99.9% of the time) and he have to give them the reality check. They have high hopes and they end up hitting the rocks on the shore. Best to see what you really have. If nothing is there, then move onto the next coin. People will keep searching for something that is not there. Grasp at a straw on the water and come here blaming us for not agreeing with them. So I go by what I see on a coin. If nothing is there, I move on. Send the coin back to work.

@Chafemaaterj. Like everyone here on CCF I love coin and bill collecting. I am indeed searching for errors and varieties to make money where possible to make ends meet. I even search half dollars, quarters and dimes for silver. My kids help me search and learn about the coins and even some history as well. Not to mention how relaxing this is and takes my mind off the everyday concerns I have. More profitable than doing yoga...

The king of Lincoln Cent varieties that can be found within reason right now is the 1992 CAM and the 1992 d CAM, these go for thousands of dollars in Mint State. Mint state 1972 DDO's go in the hundreds of dollars The 1984 double ear, 1999 WAM, and 1995 DDO all usually bring in over $50 in mint state as well.

If you are searching Lincoln cents for only the Profit side of "Fun and Profit," I'm afraid you're setting yourself up for a major let-down.. The reality is there aren't very many circulated pennies that're gonna fetch $100 or more, much less fall into the "I can take next month off" category..
However, if you're looking for an inexpensive way for you and your kids to have fun and share learning experiences while being able to find literally dozens of low-dollar error and variety coins, you can't beat US pennies..
