The "ER" of "LIBERTY" took a hit, causing the metal to get pushed over and flattened. On the reverse, that looks like a Die Dent.
Errers and Varietys.

"E-n-V" the Dot is long and popping up is not flatten so it not a dent. I try to pick it off but it won't go away LOL. By the way is this 1960 SD?

Yes, it is indeed a Small Date. What E&V meant was that the die was dented, not the coin. If the die that makes the coin is dented, it produces a raised area on the coins it strikes. Remember that the die is an inverted image of the coin. That said, I'm not sure it's a die dent. Maybe a collar clash (also a die problem)? I'm not positive.

Thanks Spruett001. Honestly, english is my second language so anytime I get into a new field I have to learn any technical words of it. Coin is new to me so sometimes I do not get exactly what people try to tell me LOL...

It's a small date but the rare small date will not have a mint mark. So it will be from Philadelphia not Denver.

This is coin damage. If the die was dented, then that area would be raised. I'm not seeing that here. The devices (that are incuse on the die) are raised on the coins struck. this coin has been flattened down in circulation. It has been out there for almost 60 years. Stuff happens to coins. They are made to be used. We are probably the only group who appreciates them. So stuff happens. The small date Denver cents are common.

OP said the area was raised on the coin. Tried to pick it off but it wouldn't move.
