Can Someone Tell Me How The MD Occurred On The Date Of This 1992 Penny?

I have now seen many examples of MD. In all those cases, the MD occurred on more than a single number or letter. (I realize I have many more examples to see.) On this coin there is only a very visible shadow double on the 2 in the date. Please help me to understand this. I know I am asking a lot of you and cant thank you enough.

I'm not seeing Machine Doubling. More of a circulation rub on the edge of the coin by the date. The motto looks more damaged. But nothing of real interest on this coin. Just a coin altered by circulation. Hope this helps.

Not Machine Doubling. Just circulation wear and tear on the coin. It's spendable.
