Good Morning to All

I am new to collecting coins and I have come across a very interesting 1941 Wheat penny that I thought was a fake at first. I was wondering if anyone could help me with as to why this penny looks the way it does. To me it seems to be copper plated on top of some sort of silver metal. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

The bubbles almost make it look like it had an acid bath...

Either acid or a botched plating job

Even though the picture is not very good, the coin looks very worn. Another vote......exposed to acid (most like soaked in Coke).

Could have been subjected to heat. ie. fire? Definitely harshly cleaned.
