Wondering if there is a chance the mint mark is stamped on top of the date. It looks like a D is right on top. Inbetween the 9 and 8, there is a hook that looks like the top of a 6. Maybe a Cud? Please help.

Looks like a huge Die Chip. I down voted Zinc Rot, because the surfaces are not pitted or rough. Nice find!
