I went to his channel but couldn't find this particular video. I must confess, I didn't spend a lot of time looking.

He calls himself a "celebrity"and sells other things too. I couldn't find this curse of the '59 penny on his youtube website, but I saw he also sold a "1940 dirty penny" for $97 last month! Ouch!

More power to him I guess. If he's able to invent that persona and capitalize on it.

JD is a celebrity as far as his viewers goes. I've learned a lot from him in over the last year metal detecting. In his 100's of videos... he has been cursed with the first year issue of the 1959 Memorial. He does these auctions not to make money, but for the fun of it. He is quite well off for the business man and owns his own coin business. He truly is respected by the MD Family. He's decent and not for the money, but in learning and historical value. IMHO

Looks like he sold a pot holder for 53 bucks. I don't understand the draw.

We think nothing of someone spending thousands of dollars on another cent with a different date and mint mark.

You never know who and why certain things become appealing.

Goodness knows that Heritage's closed sales yesterday reflect that!

His curse of almost always finding the 1959 Memorial in 100's of hunts. Mostly a short distance from any stop sign on a public sidewalk in many States. I however, do not care for the high priced cents or potholder. Yes, he's trying to capitalize on his fame now, which quite surprises me. Glad I have back up people in the MD field to continue my finds and studies. I am disappointed for sure. Moving forward.
