At a coin show last Sunday a dealer had a 1945 Mercury dime in a 2x2 flip marked as MS-66 and $26. I asked if it had full bands and we looked at it and it had about 95% Full Bands including the middle ones. I asked how much and he dropped the price to #12 so naturally I bought it. I wonder if that dealer will someday rethink that sail.

I bet he was rethinking it as you were walking away from the table.

Carl , you were in the right place at the right time . I'm sure a 1945-P 66 with 95% full bands should have been worth an awful lot of money . I will not put a figure on it for obvious reasons .

We could certainly offer our opinions as to grade and FSB status with such photos. We have plenty of folks who are very knowledgeable about that series.

I think just carl knows what he's doing regarding the FSB. He sounds like an experienced collector.
In fact, he's been a member here longer than jbuck.

I would just like to see it. A 45 Philly fsb doesn't come around very often.

He is also nearly twice my age. Been around long enough to have pulled Mercury dimes fresh from circulation.

I know Carl has full sets of FSB Mercs, but I'd still like to see anything new he buys!

Kind of true. With over 4,000 Mercury dimes, it is something I watch for all the time. Oddly enough I now have several of the 45's with almost, to actual full bands. Set #1 is still missing the 18S and no one seams to be able to come up with one. It is the only one left in set #1 to make it a complete FSB set. Then it's on to try to do the same with set #2.
