What caused the excessive wear that appears on the field near the rim? It doesn't make sense for wear to show there and not on the rim (which is higher) or the devices.

Also the scratches on the TR of TRUST look odd as well.

I'm willing to accept this as Struck Through Grease, but would like to the know the cause of the effects I've noted if anyone has further insight.

I don't see any excessive wear at the rim. All I see is the weakness of the strike because of the grease filling the devises and blocking the detail.

Hi,

That is all the result of being struck through a layer of grease with some debris mixed in.

It is not wear or weakness of the strike as such. It is simply what was able to be struck up with the grease on the die.
