Master J, the coins don't slide around that much, seems the squeeze of flip and pressure of binder is enough. Now, used pages maybe stretched out. Most all vinyl pages are OK anymore(no PVC) but I don't get them of ebay, only know sources as shops or supply stores. Never seem to have much trouble with flips and contact scuffs, make sure coin is clean, heavy dust will damage no matter which storage is used! Only trouble comes with large coins like Ike dollars. I us the 2 1/2 X 2 1/2 cardboard (or Mylar flip) with a 12 pocket vinyl page, just seems to work better, had too many break the window when closing. Edited by Crazyb0

When I need a bigger order of supplies I usually go with Wizard Coin Supply on the internet. The larger the order the more the cost of shipping is spread out.

Wizard is my only source for supplies after trying everyone else.
I've used the no staple special 2x2 and 2.5 x 2.5 holders for 30 years now. The adhesive is more like Velcro and gives air tight seals. In 30 years I've never had a Coin tone.
Be sure to blow your coin and holder off with a can of compressed air to get rid of dust and lint before sealing.
They are comparatively expensive, about 22 cents each, but I don't own coins that don't deserve that protection.

I use mostly Whitman Classic Albums. I have no slabs. If and when I purchase a coin in a slab, I break it out for the Albums. I prefer Albums since the coins have dates and mint marks already added under the coins. Both sides of the coins are visible. Any coins not yet in an Album are placed in 2x2 flips until enough are accumulated to start another Album. I go to many coin shows and ask dealers for any old Albums they don't want and I get almost all my Albums from them and usually free so much cheaper than purchasing other coin collecting materials. I usually order Proof sets from the Mint but break out the coins for Albums. With Albums you can make your own set up. For example I have one Album with Shield nickels, Liberty Head Nickels, Buffalo nickels and some Jefferson ones too and all in one Album. |
