Every once in awhile, we get lucky (or unlucky) and pick up a great coin at a great price. I snagged this one for only 20 bucks!

Postumus Antoninianus, struck 262/265 AD - Cologne mint.
Obv: IMP C POSTVMVS P F AVG, radiate, draped and cuirassed bust right.
Rev: MONETA AVG, Moneta standing left, holding scales and cornucopiae.

In 260 AD Marcus Cassianius Latinius Postumus led a rebellion against Rome and ceased control of Gaul, Britannia, Germania and Hispania and ruled as the first emperor of the Gallic Empire. Gallienus could not dislodge the usurper and he went on to rule for the better part of 9 years. Postumus fended off numerous barbarian raids along the Rhine and the provinces actually flourished during his rule. Ironically, he murdered by his own troops shortly after he had defeated and killed his usurper- Laelianus.

Fantastic coin at a great price. Congrats.

(I assume the color of the photo is pretty far off)

Yeah the color is off a bit in the pic, the silver is suberb, therefore I am assuming the silver content must have been pretty high for his coinage.
Rest in Peace

Color suggests Binio to me, (first struck in the reign of Trebonianus Gallus 251-253), but they were generally much better made.
I am reasonably certain that no binios were struck in the name of Postumus.

Excellent purchase! His coins are common, but the good silver ones are pretty scarce - especially with such clean surfaces and a good strike on both sides! IIRC, his "good" silver series attempted to bring the silver content back up to about 20% where it had been when Valerian and Gallienus first took office.
