To me it looks like something is on the mint mark. Why do I say that? Because it looks nothing like the design transferred from the punch. You might try a little mineral oil on that area to loosen to see if it comes off? You might try a green thorn also. Bu Go easy. Sometimes sand can mix with grease an make it stick to the devices. Move sand/grit can scratch the surface on the coin. I sometimes use a very soft toothbrush to help remove it. But the sand issue is rough. So be careful.

It's not D/S or a S/D. It's Post Strike Damage (happened after it left the U.S. Mint). It's a sticky residue stain.

thank you for all of the support fellow coin hunters, may I make a off topic comment? why is there always a person who no matter what, must give neg. inf. Really, I just wanted someone to look and give some nice good sound advice, not their opinion on what they think it is and be so sure when they have not seen the coin in their hand and with a loop with optimal lighting. but I digress thanks again for the well wishes and ill see if I cant use a cotton swab and some water to clean up the area ill take a few more pics and post again!
