I have a 1968 s penny and the date looks doubled and so does Lincolns face and chin. Anyone know? If it is anyone know the value of this?

To CCF! This is typical Machine Doubling on the devices. It's very common on these years and it's technically an error, but a worthless one, since Machine Doubling doesn't carry premiums. The devices have been reduced in size, and it's shelflike in appearance. http://www.error-ref.com/machine-doubling/

See the color of the affected area? Note it is all the same color. That is because it is flat. Devices are contoured. When they are damaged by the dies, the flatten, just like your coin.

Wow. I found the exact same coin today & put it aside for an extreme MD example. Same date, mm , chin ,lips & nose wiped out. Odd that it doesn't have it any of the other devices.

That's pretty cool wrongnumber! So it looked exactly like the OP's example?

If you want to save Machine Doubling, then I would save the extreme examples.
