That's Cracked Cooper Plating. causing the Zinc to get exposed. It probably broke during the strike from thin Cooper plating.
Errers and Varietys.

It is considered split plating. not uncommon.

Starting in 1982, cents were composed of zinc with an outer copper coating, or plating, a really bad idea.

Yes split plating on the OP's coin, but it wouldn't surprise me if @coop had his own error named after him at some point.

Lol! I made a bad typo, and now it's too late to edit the comment! I mean "Copper" plating, not "Cooper"n plating.
