Not quite large enough to be classified as interior die break but still a nice coin. Just wanted to share

I suspect it's not a die chip.
I think it's a damaged die.
Something got in the way during a strike and pitted the die.
All subsequent strikes would have that characteristic until someone noticed it and changed the die.
And I bet a whole bunch of cents got recycled.

Nice and unusual, but it does look like it is coming off of a die crack. But, I am familiar with all the technical processes and the "how" of a lot of these errors or varieties. It looks like it would be the 4mm requirements did you check with JC?

I sent the pics to JC for evaluation but not significant enough to list

Not from a damaged die. It's a Die Chip, just a weirdly placed one. Nice find lawest!

Die chips always remind me where someone parked their gum. LOL This fits the bill on this coin.

That's how I see it also CC: as bleed from a tiny die crack -- which I doubt I could have made that call were it not for lawest's excellent photography..

And funny, this: Reminds Coop of a place to park gum; reminds me of a tube of toothpaste with a small pinhole after being squeezed really hard, lol..!

Rest in Peace

Good eyes. Certainly worth keeping. Great photos, too.
