But when you look at it again, notice the areas you are looking closer on are incuse (sunk in) to the devices. This is caused by the dies tapping the devices after the strike. On a doubled die the devices are raised enlarging the devices, not reducing them. So MD is caused by the machine. A doubled dies are enlarged on the die. Thus the term 'doubled die'. DrDon Pillar of the Community United States 2624 Posts	Posted 07/01/2018 12:04 pm Machine doubling. Look at the "E".(Third pic) Compare it to the "M". The top of both are both at the same height. On the bottom of the "E" the flat portion is level with the bottom of the "M". he higher portion of the lower cross bar has been reduced in size. Report this Post to the Staff
