I'm a new collector and just got some 2X2 mylar Saflips. I noticed that there is a kind of iridescent rainbowy film on the flips. Is that how these flips are supposed to be? I'm just worried about harming the coins that I will be placing in them.
Thanks for any wisdom anyone can send my way.

When it comes to coin collecting and storage - Why not jus stick with BCW products? They make 2x2's and the 3 ring binder sleeves to store them in?

John1---thanks for the welcome. I got them from Wizard Coin---apparently manufactured by E&T Kontainer Co. I'm just trying to figure out if this rainbow iridescence is normal for mylar flips---I never used them before.

The rainbow effect is an optical effect-interference fringes is the technical term-because the two pieces of plastic are so close together. You can see if you touch the plastic the fringes move and if you separate them enough they disappear.

It's 100% normal for Saflips. I believe they even address it specifically on the package or in the description. Nothing to worry about.

You can use these instead, if you don't like them. These are non PVC 2x2's. https://www.ebay.com/itm/100-2-x-2-....m2749.l2649
