Hello all, Meow is interested in clear 2x2 coin flips. Since Meow is still a noobie collector, Meow would like to ask what brand or type would be best. Meow does not like the ones with paper you staple together. TIA.

I believe Saflip is the biggest name brand for Mylar flips. I started out using them, but have since adopted the cardboard/Mylar 2x2s for a couple reasons (price and coin movement).

Saflip is just one brand, though. Check out ebay, Amazon and Wizard Coin Supply to see what's available.

When it comes to 2x2 cardboard / mylar flips, some collectors prefer pre glued, some prefer stapled. Stapled flips can be re used.
I don't mind either type, but just about all of my collection of 3,000 coins are in 2x2 cardboard / mylar flips. That is despite the fact that a lot of my coins are valued at $100's++ each.

You can write up the details of the coin on the cardboard; can't do that with slabs.

Just make sure that the 2x2's are in non PVC album pages.

Those saflips seem like something this cat would want. Will the 2x2s hold even ASEs? Meow was thinking of trying some stacking too. Dem maple leaf coins also look very pretty to Meow. And so do dem Britannias...... There seems to be no end to collecting coins.

I mostly use flips for ancient or Medieval coins these days, and I prefer to use the off brand (pvc-free) flips. This is the most recent pack I bought:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/40-250-41-...713915251006

I would recommend those if you either find yourself breaking coins back out of cardboard flips, or for any coins half dollar or larger. If you are collecting smaller coins, I would use cardboard flips, especially since they are cheaper for cents/nickels etc.

You can get really good deals on binder pages on ebay; I got a 200 pack for $20, likely more than I can ever use!

I prefer Guardhouse flips over Saflip.
A minor reason is that they don't stick together when trying to remove one flip from the package.
I like the rounded corners, too.
Rest in Peace

I don't have a single coin in mylar flips . I just don't like them , Have been using 2x2 cardboard with flat clinch staples for many years .
@ Crazyb0, white paper incerts were known to cause tarnishing .

Meow: Saflip makes 2x2 and 2.5x2.5 size.

Wow that must be for some really big coins! Meow recently dug up some old ASEs and put them is 2x2s. It was a bit snug, but they fit. What kind of coin is so large it needs 2.5x2.5? To think back, Meow did get a really large coin from redeeming smaller ones in Vegas years ago. That was a big coin, Meow does not remember fully its size; maybe it was a six ounce coin.

Glad to hear that, Meow! And they do fit into a 2" by 2" flip!

NumisRob what do think the price of silver will do? Meow wants to collect all types of bullion coins too, but is afraid if Meow does the price of silver may drop. And that would surely make Meow's fur fall out.
