One of my favorite things to do was to load up my drafts folder, and wait for a "buy or sell" promo that would net some of my seller fees back as a coupon to use at the beginning of the next quarter. Last quarter was good for me, and I got my limits bumped up two levels (currently 190 items or $20k). Does that mean I can probably expect to never see a "buy or sell" promo again, or do sellers at all levels get the promos?

(Side-gloat: Just got a cool $340 ebay bucks coupon to blow on shiny things I don't need! )

As far as I know no one can figure out how they decide who gets what promos. Those limits shouldn't be enough to bump you out of that promo, but I've been getting much different ones this year than last year and last years were much more useful for to me. One of my friends just got a discounted sellers fee one which I've never had offered before so who knows if you'll get it again or when

I think it best to avoid gloating. If all of your purchases were made during a 10% Bucks promo, you spent over $3,000 during the last quarter. I would guess that the promo doesn't apply to some of your transactions, so that means a higher total.

Just keep it to yourself, please.

We are a community of people from every walk. Gloating is unacceptable.

Forget all that. I have clarified below.

If you sell quite a bit, you will not get the 'sell' promos. I have yet to get one of the sell ones, but I've gotten almost every 'buy' one...

I don't think that's something anyone should get upset about. If someone has the means to show off a 10k coin, do you want them not to post it because not everyone can afford a 10k coin? Perhaps, it would be a better idea to be happy for a fellow member of the community that they can get $340 worth of stuff for free...

I only earned like $10 from purchases; the rest was from timing my sales to coincide with the "buy or sell" promotions; e.g. sell a $150 coin, get your cash now, pay your $15 fee at the end of the month, then get a $15 ebay bucks certificate at the end of the quarter. Yes, I paid more than $340 in seller fees in April, May, and June, but it feels nice to get some of that back. It allowed me to finally buy a coin that had been in my watch list for over 18 months, and to engage in a handful of bidding wars past the point where I normally would have to drop out. Not trying to rub it in; just demonstrating that there is a better method than just swallowing the seller fees as a loss. I certainly did not mean to offend or rub anyone the wrong way.

I guess time will tell regarding the promos; I'll be sure to report back in a few months if I get any or not.

I got the "Buy or sell" for the first time a few weeks ago. It also worked nicely for me, although much less than yours. Still was pleasantly surprised when I got an extra $36 in ebay bucks on top of my $6 from buying stuff. Who knows if I will see one of them again.

I agree with what others have said (that gloating can be acceptable) but it was pretty clear that the OP acquired at least some of his Bucks as a seller. We don't know how much he spent as a buyer.

Some of us don't gloat or show off high-end purchases to protect our privacy. But if we all did that, we wouldn't have much to talk about on here except Machine Doubling and obvious PMD.

All that said, I worked hard for my Bucks. Maybe you'll see what I got with them, maybe you won't. I'm just glad they're there -- it's like getting a nice present for free every three months.

Great idea. I get those buy/sell promos from time to time. Starting to load up the drafts tonight!

For clarification, my negative response was because of the use of the word "gloat." Gloating is not just showing off and carries quite a negative connotation. I have nothing against being proud and nothing against the OP.

Update for those curious - the ebay bucks quarter came and went, and I received nary a "buy or sell" offer. Oh well.

So for those who are still at the lower seller levels, make sure you cash in when you can!

I got one last quarter and got about $13 back. Better than a sharp stick.
