I submitted a couple PMG notes I had graded back in the early days of PMG, hoping for a higher grade. They were submitted in their graded holder. No luck. 1901 Bison remained a 55, and 1899 Chief remained a 55 EPQ. Anyone else have any regrade results to report?
I haven't submitted any PMG or PCGS graded notes in for re-grading , but have sent some CGA notes to PMG. All of the notes came back exactly as CGA had graded them.
Agree with spruett - resubmitting graded notes to the original grader in the original holder is a waste of money. There's no upside for them to change a grade in either direction.
I have submitted many large size CGA notes to PMG, and many have come back one grade point lower as expected - I had factored that into my purchase price. The quality paper designation on all such notes, however, has always crossed perfectly.
I would think that PMG would check raw notes against their S/N database, thus eliminating any advantage of taking out of holders. Of course I could have cut out and sent to PCGS, but I'd rather have them in PMG holders.
I've been told......PMG does a serial number check, but grades the note it has in front of them, with no influence of a previous grade, just as if it was the first time they've seen the note. This is what I've heard from a reliable source.
I have been told this before as well, unsure if it's true. Are you saying even a holdered note gets the grade and ID info blocked before the new grader sees it? I have no experience here, i.e., cutting a holdered note from either of the two major services.
