Been a while since I posted a Morgan dollar pick. Here's a VAM-6 in NGC plastic.

May want to relook at the attribution... that broken R on the reverse may change things...

Heh, it wouldn't have been the first time I was wrong and I wish I was on this one . Some of these '78-S can really spin you around if they're not one or two and done... Any idea if this VAM is known for grease filled? GOD looks a little light on this one and close examination it doesn't look like baggage..

I see what you are saying about it being "light" in that area, I do not recall seeing anything about filled dies being mentioned for this VAM.... could be grease? I do know that Leroy has stopped listing filled dies as separate VAMs... They are no longer considered a variation in the die, just a mint error, the same way Strike Doubling is considered... (though filled dies are pretty cool when they completely block portions of the design!)

What is that below the "D" of "DOLLAR"... is that a scratch on the plastic or is that something on the coin (crack, scratch?) looks like it runs radial from the denticle to the "D"

Well, I'm not sure what that line is below the D is. It's on the surface of the coin but it can't be a die crack as this one is actually a fairly early strike with the reverse appearing PL under the toning.

Quote: Nice doubling, did you figure it out? Thank you and no if you're referring to the line under the D. I'll need to get that area under a different lens to get a close-up. Stay tuned....
