I was told this at coin shop.
A "note" from my grandpa to my mother.

I agree that the value is lowered because of the writing (graffiti). Also, there is a central crease and the serial is quite high.

Overall, it is a highly sentimental piece for history and that's pretty much it.

Still, it is a keeper if I had it and it would hold a special place.

I'd totally hold on to that note but it's not worth much more than face to most folks here. You might find "the right buyer" eventually.

I wonder who Karen is/was. Cool note.

Karen is my mother. Her father wrote that.
Gave it to her on her second birthday in 1956.
2 for 2 ")
He always gave your birthday amount of what your
Gift was. Silly. Mostly coin sets or commemorative stamp
Covers of whatever the first issue was at the time.
I'm bicentennial 76 baby, may 28th at that!
So it falls on memorial day here and there.
I've got so much 76 stuff!! I'm sure you can imagine..

Best of all! I found gold today! Well last night now.
Going through old train set stuff he had. Separating Marx from Lionel, and clanking around inside the Lionel engine was a strange coin so I posted it here last night and oh boy! Sure enough GOLD! A GOLDEN KNIGHT !
Slaying a hybrid lizard er.. chimera, pretty cool.
I need holders for all these now. Everyday I find at least one neat coin... ugh. I'm hooked.

VALUE GUIDE-1953B $2 United States Note

Numismatic value 2%
Sentimental value 98%

For the reasons stated above, the nostalgic/sentimental value outpaces the numismatic value many times over....I love notes like this.

Oh, that makes it so much cooler that Karen is your mom and it was written by your grandfather (*which you did say in your first post - guess I glossed over that)! What a great note!
