Tivoli is used in a generic sense amusement token both in British and the EU comes from Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen. Tivoli Gardens is an amusement park and pleasure garden in Copenhagen, Denmark. The park opened on 15 August 1843 and is the second-oldest operating amusement park in the world, after Dyrehavsbakken in nearby Klampenborg, also in Denmark. Hemmingsen is a Danish surname. There are towns named Tivoli around the world. I would think that in this context they are tokens used for the assorted amusements at the park.
