How can we tell it is damaged? We look at the rim of the coin. The edge will be round when struck. The rim on the edge of each side protects the surface of the coin. But note on your coin, the rim area is bent inward? When the rounded edge of the is pushed in a different direction than normal, then it was damaged. Also the rim also show flattening marks from side cut pliers. So all the damage takes it back to face value. In fact, just one mark will turn the coin into a cull coin. It is just intentional damage.

Both are Post Strike Damage, since it happened after it left the U.S. Mint. The metal has been pushed over and flattened.
Errers and Varietys.
