Lincoln Wheat cent reverses. RDV-001-4
Have you ever looked at something and wondered? "Is there more to this than what I've found yet?" Well, I've felt that way the last three days. Something turns up. Then the next day something new turns up. Guess what. Today is day three. I think I have found the last pieces of the puzzle. But adding something new to the mix. Day one I helped a member realize that his business strike coin was not a proof coin with this image:

Well that helped his see that his coin was not a Matte proof coin, but a nice struck VDB.
I already knew that the 1909-S VDB strike had the same centered dot on the VDB as well.

But then a 1909 VDB cent was posted by Zac showing that there were some VDB cents that had that also. So I made a count on PCGS with almost 300 examples and found some interesting facts:

The numbers of these were in the 20% range of the 300 that I searched yesterday. But I discovered 30% of these didn't have strong enough dots to tell which is which was which. So still wondering if I was still missing something?
So today, I searched to make sure all the 1909-S VDBs were the one with the center dot. And they all were. So I wondered if they noticed that when they figured the reverse die varieties? So I check Variety Vista to see what they had determined and found this:

So I made up my version and added the information about the space or no space on the VDB. So I was happy with that information and decided to go to the next step to show what the differences are. (I was almost there already)
RDV-001:

RDV-002:

RDV-003:

RDV-004:

So I think I've got it all figured out. The 4 reverses were different because of :
001: V.D.B., shallow N of UNITED, Centered dot on VDB
002: V.D.B., deep cut N of UNITED, no spaces on dots
003: No V.D.B., shallow N of UNITED
004: No V.D.B., deep cut N of UNITED
These are the 4 wheat RDVs. (Which I was not aware of either)
So when you live on just one street for a long time, the first time to go around the corner, there is more see and learn about.

So Have I. Now we know why there are 4 different reverses listed on Variety Vista and what is also an item to add to the 001 & 002 information about the dots. I create each project different. I tried something new with this one and I think it works. I go with Ideas that come to me at the time. Nothing planned, just try to re-invent the wheel.
