Hey guys! Excited to join the forum as this is my first post! Been collecting coins for a couple years now and have been drawn to it ever since.

I ran across this "1796 flowing hair" coin and want to hear what you guys have to say about it.

My first instinct is that its fake

Flowing hair dollars weren't minted with the date 1796 so it's a counterfeit.

This is real. It is not fake or counterfeit. It is rare, very valuable, but obscure and unknown to the public.

The 1794 and 1795 Flowing Hair silver dollars are more known. Little is known about the 1796 one. The Draped Bust silver dollar began in 1796 or 1797 so they may be some overlap in mint years.
