Hi, everyone. Just want to know if there is a possibility of doubled die on the rim of a coin or a doubled die on the bust? Thanks....

Hard to tell when you zoom in too close. Images should show 3-5 devices per image. Three for large devices, 3-5 for smaller devices. Even a grain of sand can look like a sugar cube with enough magnification. Collectors want to be able to see it with 10X max. It is nice sometimes to see something enlarged, but too much confuses what is really there.

It's normal. There's no doubling.

Your coin is not a doubled die.

It is not possible for a doubled die to cause doubling of the rim.

There are doubled dies that have doubling on the bust, nearly all of them are from the 1980s.

Here's an example:

Rest in Peace

Because the rim is not a product of the hubbing process, it cannot be a doubled die, ONLY a hubbing of the master dies creates this effect. You may have a variety of machining effects, movement at strike, over-pressure strikes, misaligned dies and milling defects of the rim offset areas, but NEVER is it considered doubled.

Now, the bust may indeed be, but most are one of two things, MD(machine damaged/movement) or is MDD, the Master Die hubbing process was doubled effecting may dies of a specific year and series. 1972 cents are a prime example that mimic DDO's. Doubled dies of the bust, are more localized, the eyelid, face area of profile as this half dollar:

This compares both a DDO and MD event on a similar area.

LOL, beat me to it Tanner!
