1976 Jefferson Nickel Need Info On The Material...

Came across this nickel and it looks very different from any other nickel I've ever seen. It also weights very little compared to a normal nickel of the same year. Can anyone give me a clue as to what is going on here ?

It's a damaged coin. It was dipped in acid, causing the width of the coin to be reduced. Also, it reduced the weight of your coin also.

Poor little coin it lost a lot of material, it should weigh 5.00gr.
