By my count there are to many stripes on the flag. ( I could be mistaken, it would not be the first time ;) .
Red 7 white 6 total - total 13stripes

However On th coin it appears to show
Red 8
White 7
Total 15 stripes ?

There are 15 stripes on the flag on the coin, which is historically correct for the flag at the time.

You can read (briefly) about it on Wikipedia at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_...er_flag_acts

Pictures would help. You'll get more responses that way.

Yes the flag that flew over Ft McHenry, that the poem Defence of Fort M'Henry (which later became The Star Spangled Banner) was based on, had 15 stripes. The fifteen stripe flag was adopted in 1795. The number of stripes was fixed at 13 in 1818.
Rest in Peace

Yeah I believe the thought was that as new states would come in, adding a stripe would get pretty cumbersome very quickly as the nation grew. The decision was made to keep the stripe at 13 to represent the original 13 colonies and then add a new star for each incoming state.

I thank you for the clarification & history lesson.
I knew there had to be a reason.
