Typical split plating - you'll see that alot on the zincoln's D mint mark. When the cent was struck the copper plating on the zinc planchet "tore" exposing the zinc

Not an RPM. It's Split Plate Doubling from the Copper plating splitting during the strike. It's very common on Copper plated Zinc cents. It happens almost all of the time. http://www.error-ref.com/split-plate-doubling/
