I've encountered something I haven't seen before. The reverse of a BB note shows 3 red threads. Two are small and more of a dot like appearance, one is larger, looks like coming out of note. Approximately 1/16 th of an inch long on the third one...possibly shorter. Has anyone seen this before? Could it be an older attempt at repair of pinholes? Sorry for picture quality.

I think those are silk threads in the paper and can show up either on the face or back.

Here's an example of a short thread next to the vignette on the front https://currency.ha.com/itm/nationa...tion-071515#

Here are multiple threads on the back in the white areas https://currency.ha.com/itm/nationa...tion-071515#

Distribution varies as does length.

Others may have a different explanation.

Thank you for both examples. They do look similar to what I've seen. I've not closely examined too many brownbacks and wondered what this was. Your pics resemble what my brownback shows.
