Hi everyone, Since I don't come across alot of US coins for in-hand inspections I have a hard time figure out if this coin has a natural toning or if it's caused by old cleaning/dipping. I've seen Swedish 80% silvercoin that were dipped turn orange/Brown. I know you guys have tons of experience and I would like to hear your thoughts on this coin. The coin has alot of underlying lustre but it is kind of hard capture it on photos. So I appologize for posting quantity over quality. Photos are taken outside in just Daylight. I personaly would straight grade this about AU50-53 but I understand if some people disslike the toning. /denkan

I'm not an expert on toned silver coins but I would venture to say they are NOT natural toned .

I'm always amazed at how many of our US coins make it to other countries. I'm not a fan of toned coins but yours looks OK.

Agree it's probably natural, but I'm not crazy about it.

Sorry, my first thought was detailed' dipped, cleaned or corroded. It's still a beautiful American coin though. Send it home! Quote: Photos are taken outside in just Daylight. Don't make a habit out of that. Direct sun light will kill a coin for sure!

It may not be the prettiest (some of that could be the direct sunlight pictures) but the toning looks fine Quote: Sorry, my first thought was detailed' dipped Dipping itself doesn't cause details grades.

Quote: Dipping itself doesn't cause details grades. You and I might understand that but it all depends on what some individuals dip it in.

True! Actually, I think an "over-dipped" coin could well get a details grade.

I'm going for a previous cleaning. A rough one at that.

Toning, albeit with negative eye appeal, looks fine.
