More or less leaning a fake but still interesting. Only thing I don't have is a scale. Sounds identical to a zincoln dropped on the counter. Quite rounded on the rim edge. Obviously has gook, but also some folded over metal from edge inward & the obvious lack of plating. Myself , thinking fake. Free so still cool.

You're correct. It's indeed a Dryer Coin. The size was reduced, and the rims were pushed up. It's a very interesting form of Post Strike Damage.
Errers and Varietys.
Rest in Peace

Everyone always says Dryer Coins, but that isn't the only machine that "catches" coins and may cause a rounded/worn off edge like that. I have found coins in a coin counter, caught inside the innards that made similar.

Here are some damaged one that came out of a spinner like the above...

That was my initial guess Dryer Coin. That doesn't explain the lack of plating anywhere to be seen. At a loss here but I think it's fake. If not t, cool

I don't believe it is fake, but I do believe it is a Dryer Coin or something similar. I don't know about all of the copper plating being gone.

The coin doesn't just spin on it's edge only but will tumble and the flat surfaces scrape on the coated metal, like a granite or diamond pan surface that wears the plating off.

Notice the tumbling coins in the above diagram and thes coins that just wound up sliding around in the drum.

Reading another potential source of dryer damage is debris, which includes coins can sometimes slide into the tubs baffles. Bouncing up and down and all around. Thanks, Doug.

If you've been hearing a clinking or clanking sound during the dry cycle and have made sure that it is not a problem with the motor or belt, you may have coins or other loose items in your dryer drum baffles.

Quote:
Most dryers typically have 3 drum baffles, which help to aerate clothes as the dryer spins. You will have to remove the baffles to clear out any coins or other items that may be causing the clinking noises.

Well my first guess was a Dryer Coin or some sort of fake. The lack of plating,if any still exists is beyond me. Most have been in there a very long time.

Yes I'm aware of that. Thing is it's non existent. Mostly likely worn off with possible years of being in a dryer.
