That line was a Die Clash that they were trying to polish out. It's a very nice example. Very nice find and congratulations!

Oh, that is a die clash? First time Meow ever found one. So that's what it was! On the second coin look like they used 80 grit sandpaper to polish it.

That's a Die Clash in the 4th picture. They were polishing the die to try to get rid of it, but they missed that part of it.

There are two such shapes in the field of that coin. Wow, Meow would have never know all the things every one showed Meow. The internet is so prrrrrfect for knowledge. Thanks all!

Meow - Why do you refer to yourself in the third person? No one else on the forum does.

Actually the die is in the VLDS (Very-Late-Die-State) when you coin was struck. So it had several clashes. Several were polished off and when the die needed any more attention, then it was retired. Clash marks: This overlay will help you to see what areas is a die clash. During he clash, only the fields touch. So the outlines of the bust/designs are only seen. (just the outlines) Deeper devices will not show because the fields are the outside edge of the die. The raised devices are recessed into the die. So just look at the outside design areas.

Wow Coop, Thanks for the overlay. Meow was just stumped at what it was when Meow first found it. It is Meow's first live example of one.
