*** Edited by Staff to Add Year / Mintmark / Denomination to Title. Titles are Important! ***Hey everyone. First time posting and new to error hunting. I love the site. Learning a little more each day. Here's the question. I'm going through quarters and ran into a 2006 P Colorado quarter. I did find a Cud on the front but have a question about the reverse. The banner that says 'Colorful Colorado' is missing part of the O and C letters in the banner. I haven't found anything on this yet. Would this be a Grease Filled Die? What kind of error if not and would anyone know a value? Please see pics. Thanks for the help. Edited by okyjoe 07/24/2018 7:55 pm

Looks like damage on the "C". Maybe a well placed hit? I was wondering if you can show me the obverse picture of the Cud. I would love to see it.

to the forum and the hobby! Those are likely die chips. Some call this type of die chip "broken die posts".

Thanks for the response and help. Still learning but was hoping I finally found something unique and maybe worth something. I'll save it. I also posted the Cud. This one is on the chin. Tried to get a good pic. Hopefully, I'm identifying this correct.

That's actually called a Die Chip, since it doesn't involve the rim. A Cud only involves the rim only. A Die Chip is a piece of broken metal that's less than 4 Square millimeters long. See cuds-on-coins.com for more information. cuds-on-coins.com/lincoln-cent-cuds-1983-2/

Ah, thanks for the help. I checked out the site you provided and I see what you mean. Adding it to the bookmarks. Sorry for getting your hopes up but I learned something and hopefully will not make the same mistake. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and making this Noob a little smarter.

You're very welcome and no problem at all! You don't have to feel bad about it. This is why CCF exists, to help new collecters learn about this hobby.

You should include the date, mintmark, and the denomination in your titles.

Sorry about that. I will make sure that is added in my next post. Thanks for correcting it.
