I've come across many coins graded Fine to Extra Fine. On some of the coins, Lady Liberty's features are almost flat. On other coins, she is more detailed and raised. Other than that, I don't see much difference. Also, some of the coins seem way to shiny for the year? Can anyone help me to understand these grading differences? Thanks
Rest in Peace

Striking strength was often poor during the '40.

Bright surfaces can either be from a cleaning or lighting used for photo taking if you are grading from photos.

The difference in detail can often be from strike.

Quite possibly, #3 hardest design to grade.

MANY date/Mintmark combinations are treated separately from the rest, due to strike quality & die usage.
