I post this as a query and a caution. I am not an expert in this area, but the crown offered here on ebay has the raised dots behind the neck that appear to be a hallmark of this fake. I messaged the seller and he asked for more information; I sent him a link to a thread on this site ( https://goccf.com/t/146846 ) which clearly illustrates the raised dots. The seller has not responded or altered the listing. I think it's an honest mistake on the seller's part.

The listing: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Great-Britai...352410304337

Is this indeed a forgery or did I do the seller a disservice?

It certainly does not look right to me. As well as the dots mentioned, the strike on the reverse is weak in places - particularly on the faces of the lions - which would be unlikely on this coin. Not a huge number were minted and they were done to a very high standard.
The even dullness of the whole picture also looks wrong somehow to me - I would not be risking my money on it.
Another concern - why sell a British coin on ebay Canada when you are resident in Malta?

It seems to show the dot under the date on the reverse, as well as the raised dots on the obverse.

The edge lettering is what really gives most forgeries away - it seems to be the hardest thing to get right! Shame we can't see it.

Highly faked coin and I agree that it doesn't look right (inconsistent wear).

...and that is one of those classic "in between" prices. If it were genuine it should be at least $1200 to $1500, so the experienced buyers are steering clear. The buyer probably thinks they have got a bargain, but it should only have been $30 at the most.
