Hey guys, I picked this up at LCS for close to bid. It is not something I collect but thought it had pretty decent eye appeal and nice subtle toning. Does anyone actually collect these? Thoughts on coin, grade etc. Thanks! Hope these pics are decent enough.

I have a couple raw AU and 1 slabbed MS63. Great piece in my opinion. Very nice pickup you made in my opinion.

Certainly a desirable piece. Of interest to CSC collectors as well as Columbian Expo aficionados. Looks to be nicely toned. I like it! Now go pick up a '92.

Indeed we do.

The 50 coin type set of classic silver commemorative is pursued by a small, but dedicated, group of collectors.

I'm one of them - and enjoy viewing your nice example of this first of all USA commemorative

That is a nice Columbian, I agree, now go get a '92 to match. The reverse ship design is awesome.

I've got both, in MS, along with a couple of others I liked the design on, and couple I still need to get.

The Alabama 2x2 is probably my best one yet (and most expensive).

I'm going for the full date/mm set (minus, of course, the two 1915 $50 gold pieces).
I've got all the face different silver coins.
I'm slowly working on completing the date/mm sets of Oregon Trail, Daniel Boone, Arkansas and Texas multi-coin sets.

For so many being out there, it's not easy finding this Barber design with nice eye appeal as you have done

To your question, in the PCGS Set Registry, there are 269 sets in the 50 coin Type and 107 in the 144 Complete. There are 5 or 6 true active lowball sets in the PCGS Registry. I have no idea how many raw 50 pieces sets are in process, but there are a lot more than 10 to 15 years ago!
