On Lincoln cents does " Wide AM" refer to th AM in america being a min distance from each other when not touching. Does it mean not touching regardless of the distance. I found quite a few not touching. Sometimes it can be determined with naked eye and sometimes I need a spy glass?thank you.

Don't worry about any absolute distance between the A ans M. The key is is the distance between A & M equal to that of the distance between the M and E. If they are equal it is a Wide AM. If the distance between the A & M is much less than between the M and E it is the Close AM. You can't go by just the absolute distance between the A & M becauseit can vary depending on the amount of wear and/or polishing the die has received.
