I hail from Dutch Harbor, Alaska home of the deadliest catch series. Recently I started looking at my pocket change when I came across this strange error coin from 1973 D Lincoln Cent. I am not sure of the error type on this coin or whether it is popular or valuable. It is definitely interesting with what appear like a embossed stamp on the face. I hope this community help in my education as well as prosperity : )

That staggered digs looks like coin contact from a reeded edge coin as a Half Dollar. Happens in transport bags to banks and redistribution centers. Not an error, just circulation damages which hold no premium values.

I respectfully disagree Crazyb0. I think it's a Delamination.

This needs better detail pictures than what it posted now, it could be damage or someone got too much time on their hand.

It looks like text to me, so I'd go with having another coin or similar smashed into it.

to the CCF! It appears as if your cent has delamiation issues. Cool cent.

I agree it is a lamination issue. Why? Because I've seen this before:

What is confusing to me is that yes the image appear like letters or text as someone has mentioned. However, it is not indented into the coin, it is raised lettering in some aspects as though pressed up and not upon. But there is a void in the middle showing spacing like pressed upon. What do you think....a mere damaged coin and not error?

Thank you for the new images, and I agree with coop that it is a lamination issue, but not sure about the raise letter?
