This coin is missing a piece of the forehead between the cheeckbone and hair.

The indention is the design, that line, not sure if a die gouge or just a cut that has pushed up metal.

It kind of looks like a delam a little because of the discoloration but it's hard to say what's really going on because the pics aren't clear enough. I agree with crazybo it could just be some displaced metal from some kind of damage. Can you get any clearer pics up close that are more in focus?

I can't really tell what it is, but it might be damage. Maybe a scratch?

It does appear to be pushed up metal and because the cheekbone area sits much higher than the forehead it gives it the appearance of a missing patch. Not sure if you can tell on this image, but the line that devides the two areas shows a bit of excess shaving like the top of a wave. The 8 in the date also has a metal disfiguring that kind of makes it look like a 9 was made into an 8 or vise versa.

Looks like PSD to me. It is also on the B of LIBERTY,the back of his jacket,the date.Maybe from a vending machine.
